ZOR is a Glasgow-based, high-energy modern Gypsy band blending traditional Roma music with funk, pop, rap, Spanish, and rock influences. Emerging from Ando Glaso’s youth programme, with support from the Youth Music Initiative, ZOR brings together talented young musicians alongside experienced mentors to create a powerful and contemporary sound rooted in Roma tradition.
Formed in 2019, ZOR developed a distinctive musical style that honours traditional Roma melodies while reimagining them through modern genres. This approach preserves cultural heritage while making it accessible and exciting for new audiences, particularly young people. By bridging generations, ZOR invites listeners to experience the timeless beauty of Roma music in a fresh and dynamic way.
More than just a band, ZOR are cultural ambassadors. Their mission is to celebrate, protect, and promote Roma heritage on national and international stages. Through their music, they demonstrate how tradition and youth can come together to create electrifying performances that resonate across cultures.
ZOR are widely recognised for their energetic live shows, delivering vibrant performances that get audiences on their feet. The band has performed at festivals and concerts across the UK and continues to grow a strong and engaged following both online and offline.
